§ 10-7. Return of animal found at large to owner.

  • Notwithstanding the provisions of section 10-4, if an animal is found at large and its owner can immediately be identified and located, such animal need not be impounded but may, instead, be taken to the owner. In such case, the animal control officer may proceed against the owner for violation of this chapter. In no case shall an animal, required by state law to be inoculated against rabies, be returned to the owner without proof of rabies immunization.
