§ 2-137. [Establishment of the department of information technology.]

(a)

There is hereby established for the city, the department of information technology with a director who shall be classified as a merit system employee. The salary for this position shall be set by the city council as deemed appropriate.

(b)

The director will be responsible for the management of information technology systems throughout the city and provide technical advice to the mayor and city council on all matters related to such systems, including but not limited to recommending and planning for and recommending upgraded computer hardware and software requirements, inter- and intra-city connectivity, and preparation of a department budget, and all other matters related to information technology.
